Albert Einstein: Berlin to Princeton
This lecture will highlight various aspects of Einstein’s life including his youth and family background, the women and children in his life, early success in 1905, cosmic religion and Jewish identity, his famous letter to FDR about the A-bomb, Zionism, pacifism and internationalism, and why FBI director J. Edgar Hoover considered having him deported.

Voices from Florida in the 1930’s: The Work of the Federal Writer’s Project
President Roosevelt’s New Deal program included the hiring of unemployed writers to record local history and to produce travel guidebooks of our country.The 1939 guidebook concerning Florida provides a wonderful snapshot of the state at the time.Writers also interviewed 128 aged Florida residents concerning their early experiences in Florida, revealing a rich and interesting narrative of 19th century Florida pioneers.This presentation will first introduce the Florida guidebook, emphasizing the Naples/Fort Myers area.Then Dr. Franz will tell the stories of a handful of Florida’s early pioneers and inhabitants, drawing from the 1930’s interviews and images of the times. Prepare yourself for hardship, adventure, and even some intrigue as we view the lives of 19th century Floridians through the window of the FederalWriter’s Project.

An Inside Look at Air Force One
Since the early 1940's U.S. Presidents have used aircraft for travel on a global scale both in times of peace and war. Designated with the call sign “Air Force One” while carrying the President, these aircraft are manned by US Air Force aircrews that are hand-picked and represent the cream of the crop within their respective crew positions.These men and women are on call 24-hours a day to respond in support of transporting the President, First Family,White House Staff and the Press Corps members to any location in the world.The aircraft serve in the roll of "The FlyingWhite House" and feature many of the comforts of a modern day office and home. State of the art electronics, avionics and technology allow the passengers to conduct business as normal anywhere in the world whether airborne or on the ground.These aircraft have faithfully served the office of the President of the United States, while at the same time serve as symbols of freedom and democracy for the citizens of the U.S. BillThomas, a former Air Force One crew member will lead this program.
