Questions to ask any community
Eight questions worth asking anywhere you and your parent are considering, with Arbor Trace's answers.
At Arbor Trace your parent owns their home outright: deeded, 100% equity, fee-simple real estate. There is no entrance fee that depreciates. The home can be resold on the open market or passed to the estate, like any Florida condominium.
The monthly fee covers a dining allowance, the amenities, maintenance, and reserves. Ask the Sales Office for the current fee and how it has changed in recent years; it's a fair question anywhere.
The residents do. Arbor Trace has been fully resident-owned since December 2007 and is governed by a resident-elected association.
Arbor Glen, a licensed assisted living community, is on the same campus. Arbor Trace residents are considered first, and admission depends on availability and an assessment by the Director of Nursing, so ask about current availability when you visit.
The calendar of clubs, lectures, and events is set by the residents themselves, and the Events page shows what's on this month. Arbor Trace also takes part in the Blue Zones Project.
Yes. Arbor Trace is pet-friendly.

Daily life
Yes — Arbor Trace is pet-friendly, with walking trails and plenty of neighbors who'll know your dog's name before yours.
A monthly dining allowance at the Colonnade Room is part of the fee; the calendar of clubs and events is set by residents.
A campus-wide storm plan is reviewed each May with the resident association — generator power for common areas and Arbor Glen, and shelter-in-place above the surge line in the towers.

Licensing & levels of care
Arbor Glen is an assisted living facility that provides 24-hour individualized assistance for residents’ scheduled and unscheduled needs. It holds a Standard ALF (Assisted Living Facility) license, an LNS (Limited Nursing Service) license, and an ECC (Extended Congregate Care) license.
The Standard ALF license allows staff to assist with some or all of the activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, personal grooming, ambulation, toileting and incontinence care, and eating.
The Limited Nursing Service and Extended Congregate Care licenses allow Arbor Glen to provide a wide range of nursing services that standard assisted living facilities are prohibited from providing under state regulations. Licensed RNs or LPNs are on site 24 hours a day.
The vast majority of people never require long-term care in a nursing home, although a short-term stay might be warranted for intensive rehabilitative services following a severe fracture or stroke. Arbor Glen’s ECC license allows residents to age in place, since enhanced nursing services and total care with activities of daily living are available under it. Residents can remain at Arbor Glen rather than transfer to another facility when they need more care.
Arbor Glen can accept residents with mild dementia and Alzheimer’s, as long as they are not a flight risk or a danger to themselves or others. Acceptance is subject to a risk assessment by the Director of Nursing.
Costs & insurance
The monthly rate and the daily respite rate are mostly all-inclusive. There is a monthly charge for personal laundry service.
Yes. A list of the services offered, with their charges, is available, and the team will be glad to go through it with you.
No. Medicare does not cover room and board in an assisted living facility. Residents with long-term care coverage typically receive benefits for care in an ALF. Medicare payments for nursing care are offered only for a limited benefit period following a minimum three-day hospitalization. Medicare typically covers physical, occupational, or speech therapy if ordered by a physician for a condition that is improving.
Most long-term care insurance policies now include coverage for services at Arbor Glen. Please consult a long-term care insurance specialist about a specific policy.
Admissions & planning ahead
State law requires Form 1823, a detailed health assessment completed by your physician or nurse practitioner, which provides the physician’s orders for your care. Related documents are completed with the help of the Administrator, and advance directives (living will, health care surrogacy, power of attorney) must be on file.
Avow Hospice and other local hospices are available for terminal care. An interdisciplinary care plan is created between the hospice and Arbor Glen: Arbor Glen staff carry out the plan with the full support of the hospice team of physicians, nurses, companions and caregivers, social workers, and bereavement counselors. This allows a resident to remain in a residential setting among friends and family.
Daily life & safety
Residents may not keep pets at Arbor Glen, but friendly pets are welcome to visit anytime. Therapeutic pets also visit regularly, and there are resident birds and fish.
Professional nurses and certified nursing assistants, trained in the same hospitality standards as Arbor Trace and Tower Pointe. The staff includes an Administrator and a Director of Nursing certified by the State of Florida’s Department of Elder Affairs, with nurses and certified nursing assistants around the clock. A local physician serves as a medical consultant, and residents are welcome to keep their current healthcare providers. You can expect to be treated with respect and dignity, to be informed of the services available, to furnish your room as you wish, to have privacy, to take part in your plan of care, and to be free to spend time with others at Arbor Glen and throughout the community.
A full-time Life Enrichment Coordinator plans activities for every activity level: musical programs, art classes, stretching and flexibility classes, current-events discussion groups, bingo, board games, and more. The month’s schedule is on the Events page.
Staff respond to all emergency calls. They make an initial assessment and either contact 911 or provide treatment, as long as the treatment needed falls within the scope of Arbor Glen’s licensing.
